Microsoft Windows 10 latest update 1803 is causing Remote APP to work slow. It also affects right mouse click.
UPDATE (06/13/2018): With the release of the June Microsoft updates, and we believe it would be specifically update KB4284835 the issue that we had previously fixed with the patch in this article will get broken again, and will result in the following message:
Microsoft is aware of this problem, and is working on a fix, with an approximate ETA of End of June 2018, and will tentatively be under the following KB: KB4284848
How to check the version of your windows 10
Click on Start –> Type Winver and hit enter
Hold the windows key and press R, this will open the Run window, simply type Winver and hit enter
The second line will show the version number as highlighted below
If you see the version number as 1803 then you have the affected version.
The two processes below require administrative privileges on your computer. We highly recommend that your IT team assist with this.
Install Patch Fix
Download and uninstall the patch below, corresponding to your operating system, to fix the issue:
This file MUST be Run As Administrator, or it will fail.
Please make sure that Anti-Virus or any security software is turned off, or the files may not be correctly patched.
After running the patch, please re-launch your hosted application.
Running this patch will also fix the problem mentioned in this article, causing the connection to immediately show the following message: “Your computer was unable to connect to the remote computer”
This fix will only run if the patch finds mismatched versions, of the files. Otherwise please follow the instructions in the linked article.
Roll Back to the Previous Version
Roll back your Windows installation to the previous version.
You can do this by going to your “Recovery Options”,
Click on “Get Started” in the “Go back to the previous version of Windows 10”
Note that this option will only be available once you had completed a successful upgrade to build 1803.
In order to fix this issue you have to replace two of the files with older version.
The two files are called mstsc.exe and mstscax.dll both of these files are located in C:WindowsSystem32
In order to replace these files please do the following
- Close all the application launched from gotomyerp portal. Computer restart would be ideal.
- Download the above files by clicking HERE
- Backup the files: C:windowssystem32mstsc.exe and mstscax.dll
- (ALTERNATE Solution instead of steps 5,6,7): Download Sysmate FileWalker to perform the file replacements more easily.
- Take ownership of the following 2 files: mstsc.exe and mstscax.dll
- Copy the two downloaded files to C:WindowsSystem32
- You will be prompted to replace the files, click YES, for both the files
– Inheritence can be re-enabled after replacing the file
– Ownership to TrustedInstaller can be restore by adding: “NT ServiceTrustedInstaller” to each of the files.
Now your apps should restore normal performance after relaunching.
Turn Off Windows Updates (Temporarily)
Until Microsoft releases a working patch to resolve this problem, you can turn off Windows updates on your workstations, or block the 1803 from installing.
If your organization is not domain joined, and patching cannot be controlled centrally, you can install a small utility on your workstations, which will allow the workstation to prevent updating until further action. Please see and download the Rizonesoft Windows 10 Update Switch
